The 4Th of July

The 4Th of July holds a special meaning for the immigrant communities in the U.S. People are coming from all over the world to become US citizens, hoping for a place to call home. This special holiday represents an opportunity to celebrate their plans, dreams and success

Independence Day holds special significance for new Americans since it gives them a chance to celebrate the birth of a great nation as citizens. In coming to the U.S., immigrants longed for social and political freedom as well as economic opportunities. After some difficulties, moving and adjusting, they have achieved it.

Every year on the occasion of the nation’s anniversary, the immigrant communities celebrate with their friends and family, gather and watch fireworks, or call out cheers over bonfires. Perhaps even more than native- born Americans, they maintain this special day with special sentiments. In a way, the immigrant communities have their new independence to celebrate; by becoming U.S. citizens, they can own property, move freely, and enjoy diversity and equality.
